When the dhuhur of Imam (a) is announced people will react in three different ways: one group of people will laugh and mock the announcement, others will immediately rush to his aid, while a third group will want to help Imam (a) but will wait to tie up their worldly affairs, such as family and work matters.

Close your eyes and take a moment to reflect. Ask yourself: if Imam (a) appears tomorrow what would I do? Will I be ready to leave everything and rush to answer his call? Or will I be preoccupied and delay meeting him?

Throughout history people have rejected the anbiya and a’immah (a) despite being shown clear signs of guidance. When Rasulullah (s) declared his nubuwwah, the Jews of the time rejected him despite the clear signs that indicated he was the last promised Nabi. Imam Ja‘far as-Sadiq (a) has also said that some of the Muslims who will be waiting for Imam al-Mahdi (a) and praying for his dhuhur will also reject him on his reappearance, just as the Jews rejected Rasulullah (s).

Will our attachment to the dunya, to our wealth or our possessions, hold us back? Will we be able to accept Imam’s (a) justice even when it is not in our favour? Will our fear of being different from the majority stop us from seeking and following the truth?
